STORY HOUSE SPEAKERS 2025

WERNER DEAHN

“The importance of Preperation – Get in touch with your story through your senses”

Preparation is more than planning — it’s presence. For media creators of all kinds, true preparation means going beyond the surface to connect deeply with the story you want to tell. It means engaging with your subject not just intellectually, but emotionally, physically — through all your senses.
Take the actor as an example: preparing for a role isn’t just about learning lines. It’s about inhabiting a character — feeling their fears, understanding their world, and grounding every choice in lived truth. That kind of preparation requires research, empathy, and full sensory engagement.
The same is true for journalists, filmmakers, writers, and storytellers of every medium. We cannot prepare well if we rely only on what’s easily accessible. The internet is a powerful tool, but it is not a complete one. Real preparation demands we go further – wake up all your senses.

Go to where your story really happened, talk to people, touch the ground, smell the essence. Dig as deep as you can. Create a physical connection to your story. It makes a difference.

Werner has appeared in acclaimed international productions such as Valkyrie, The Lives of Others, and The Counterfeiters — two of which won Academy Awards. He has worked alongside stars including Tom Cruise, Jean Reno, Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hardy, and Michael Caine.
He is currently filming an international TV series in Belgium and developing a feature film on WWII resistance figure Albrecht Haushofer, co-writing and producing with Prof. Daniel Ulf Khafif (Munich).

“The Extraordinary Cost of Playing It Safe”

Think boring ads just blend quietly into the background?
Think again. Your bland B2B campaign isn’t just dull—it’s burning through your budget faster than you can say “ROI.”

Join me to uncover the jaw-dropping truth: boring advertising doesn’t just fail to engage – it actually costs millions more. Plus, I’ll give you a sneak peek behind the curtain to reveal how the most creative B2B ads of the past few years, from SaaS brands: Gong, Workbooks CRM, and Teamwork, nailed their creative strategies and significantly influenced their pipelines.
And yes, we will talk about AI too 😋.
